I am very happy to say we are going to see the Judge today... :O)
I am a little excited! LOL! Okay Extremely excited, overjoyed, overwhelmed...
Adoption day is finally here!!!
I do not believe there are any words in the dictionary to describe all that I feel!
It makes it even more fun today to know that November is National Adoption Month!
Adoption Month History
The first major effort to promote
awareness of the need for adoptive families for
children in the foster care system occurred in Massachusetts. In 1976, then-Governor Mike
Dukakis proclaimed Adoption Week and the idea grew in popularity and spread
throughout the nation. President Gerald Ford made the first National Adoption
Week proclamation, and in 1990, the week was expanded to a month due to the
number of states participating and the number of events.
During the month, states, communities, public
and private organizations, businesses, families, and individuals celebrate adoption
as a positive way to build families. Across the nation, activities and
observances such as recognition dinners, public awareness and recruitment
campaigns, and special events spotlight the needs of children who need
permanent families. It also includes National Adoption Day, traditionally a
Saturday, which is observed in courthouses across the nation as thousands of
adoptions are finalized simultaneously.
I love the thought that we are celebrating adoption with thousands of families at the same time we are celebrating the adoption of Kimberly, Kaeleigh, Nathan, Kasey, & Destiny. I read this the other day:
”I heard a speaker on a radio program once talk about
adoption in terms of "grafted into our family." I really like that
image. When a branch of one tree is grafted onto another, it becomes part of
that tree. Even though the branch and tree were originally from two different
sources, they very quickly become united.”
This is my heart! I love that God created adoption and it is His heart also. It has been since the beginning of time. I will close with one of my favorite scriptures that I have shared before:
I have been chosen by God and adopted as His child.
(Ephesians 1:3-8)
